The origins of the Thessaloniki Olympic Museum may be traced back in 2001 when it was first established as a Sports Museum. Almost a decade later, the museum reinstated its identity by becoming the Olympic Museum of Greece and one of the eleven founding members of the Olympic Museums Network (OMN). Affiliated with the International Olympic Committee, which granted it the Olympic privilege and global partnerships, the Thessaloniki Olympic Museum serves since 2008 as an agent of the Olympic spirit, ethos and heritage. Its primary goal was and still remains the presentation of sports and their promotion in a museum “alive” and “active”.
