Press Release #2

PRESS RELEASE | October 2026

REEVALUATE project Brings Cultural Heritage Tools Together in One Platform

EU-funded project connects artificial intelligence, public participation, digital asset management and creative reuse tools to support new opportunities for Europe’s cultural heritage.

Project developments covered: May–June 2026

How can a museum move from digitizing a historical object to making it available for responsible creative reuse? The EU-funded REEVALUATE project has taken an important step toward answering this question with the development of its second integrated digital platform release the “REEVALUATE hub”.

Developed under the technical coordination of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), the platform brings together the digital enablers developed during the project, into one connected environment supporting the management, contextualization and creative reuse of cultural heritage assets.

Building on feedback from the project’s first pilot activities, the updated platform places greater emphasis on how users move between tools, making it easier for cultural heritage professionals and creative-sector stakeholders to work with digital collections.

Connecting the cultural heritage lifecycle

Digitizing an object is only the beginning of making it available for new applications. Cultural heritage institutions must also decide which objects to prioritize, document their historical significance, manage associated rights and identify opportunities for reuse.

The REEVALUATE Platform addresses these interconnected needs by combining several technological capabilities within a common environment.

Its tools support public participation in digitization priorities, AI-assisted and human-driven contextualization, discovery of digital heritage assets, collaboration between institutions and creative professionals, and intellectual property rights management.

The platform also incorporates AI-driven creative reuse and context validation tools to explore how heritage materials can contribute to new digital content while maintaining connections to their original meaning.

At the center of this environment is the REEVALUATE Marketplace, which provides a common interface for discovering and managing cultural heritage assets.

By connecting these capabilities, REEVALUATE aims to reduce the need for users to navigate unrelated systems throughout the cultural heritage reuse process.

Connected workflows

The second integrated platform release builds on feedback collected during the project’s first round of pilot testing.

One important improvement concerns the connection between the Marketplace and the contextualization tools. This approach enables users to move more directly between managing digital assets and enriching them with relevant historical and cultural information.

The platform also strengthens its integration with tools for assessing creative reuse and managing asset-related information.

Behind the interface, the system combines artificial intelligence, semantic technologies and blockchain-based rights management, supported by a modular architecture designed to allow its components to work together.

The platform has been deployed and tested through REEVALUATE’s pilot activities. These tests helped identify improvements to navigation, usability and the coordination between individual tools, while also highlighting areas for further refinement.

Supporting new opportunities for European heritage

The REEVALUATE platform provides the technological foundation for the project’s three cultural heritage pilots, focusing on fashion and gaming, Olympic heritage and music, and archaeological heritage in Aquileia, Italy.

Across these settings, the project investigates how digitized collections can support new creative applications while preserving the contextual information and rights associated with them.

For museums and cultural heritage institutions, the platform explores more connected approaches to managing and enriching digital collections. For creative professionals, it provides tools for discovering heritage assets and investigating their potential for reuse.

This version of the platform represents an important milestone toward REEVALUATE’s wider objective “helping Europe’s cultural heritage become more accessible, collaborative and creatively reusable through responsible digital innovation”.

About REEVALUATE

REEVALUATE is a Horizon Europe project developing a collaborative framework for the digitization, contextualization, management and responsible creative reuse of cultural heritage assets. The project brings together cultural heritage institutions, research organizations, technology providers and creative-sector stakeholders to develop and test innovative digital tools across three European pilots.
