PRESS RELEASE | October 2026
The REEVALUATE Project Showcases Its Results and Future Opportunities at Its Final Event in Aquileia
EU-funded project presents its digital heritage technologies, creative reuse experiences and European collaborations at its Final Event in Aquileia, Italy.
Event covered: 25 September 2026
Aquileia, Italy – The EU-funded REEVALUATE project brought its technological developments, pilot results and European collaborations together at its Final Event on 25 September 2026, hosted by Fondazione Aquileia.
Held at Palazzo Brunner-Segré and the archaeological area of Titus Macer’s Domus, the event presented how digital technologies can support the digitization, interpretation and responsible creative reuse of European cultural heritage.
The programme brought together the project’s three pilot experiences, demonstrations of its digital tools and discussions on collaboration, policy and future opportunities for cultural heritage innovation.

Three pilots demonstrating new uses of cultural heritage
A central focus of the event was the presentation of REEVALUATE’s three pilots, which explored creative reuse across different cultural heritage settings.
The Fashion and Gaming pilot, involving MoMu – Fashion Museum Antwerp, demonstrated how historical garments can inspire contemporary fashion designs and interactive digital experiences. Its results include sewing patterns developed from historic museum objects and a gaming-inspired application allowing users to interact with digitized clothing through virtual avatars.
The Olympic Heritage and Music pilot, involving the Olympic Museum of Thessaloniki and Staatliche Museen zu Berlin – Stiftung Preußischer Kulturbesitz, explored how Olympic artefacts, musical instruments and historical recordings can support new museum narratives and audiovisual experiences.
The Aquileia pilot, led by Fondazione Aquileia, combined archaeological digitization, public participation and expert knowledge to develop an interactive virtual tour of Titus Macer’s Domus.
Together, the pilots demonstrated how heritage institutions, researchers and creative professionals can collaborate to develop new applications while maintaining connections to the original cultural materials.
Connecting digital tools into a shared framework
Alongside the pilot experiences, REEVALUATE presented its integrated digital framework, which brings together technological tools supporting different stages of cultural heritage management and reuse.
These include public participation in digitization priorities, AI-assisted and human-driven contextualization, asset discovery, collaboration, rights management and creative reuse.
A central component is the REEVALUATE Marketplace, designed to connect heritage institutions and creative-sector users through the discovery and management of digital cultural heritage assets.
The project also developed approaches to provenance tracking, intellectual property rights management and context validation, addressing important questions surrounding the responsible use of digitized heritage.
The event provided an opportunity to demonstrate how these complementary tools can contribute to more connected cultural heritage workflows.
From research results to future opportunities
The Final Event also highlighted opportunities for cooperation with related European initiatives, including the project’s developing synergies with other cultural heritage research projects.
The programme included exchanges on policy considerations, stakeholder needs and how REEVALUATE’s results could support further applications beyond the original pilot settings.
During the afternoon, the event moved to Titus Macer’s Domus, where the virtual tour developed through REEVALUATE was presented in connection with the archaeological site itself.
The experience demonstrated how interactive digital technologies can complement physical heritage visits, offering additional ways to explore Roman history and engage with archaeological objects.
As REEVALUATE approaches the conclusion of its Horizon Europe implementation period in December 2026, the results presented in Aquileia provide a foundation for further collaboration, knowledge exchange and potential uptake.
The project’s central contribution is demonstrating that cultural heritage digitization can go beyond creating digital copies, opening new possibilities for participation, creativity and responsible reuse.
