REEVALUATE, DIGICHer, and IMPULSE officially initiate Synergies
On October 15, 2024, the REEVALUATE project held the first online meeting with both its sister projects, DIGICHer and IMPULSE, marking the official start of a collaborative journey to boost cultural heritage (CH) digitisation efforts. The meeting brought together project teams to introduce the overarching goals of each project, exchange ideas, and establish an initial roadmap for future collaboration.
Introducing the Projects
Each project operates at the intersection of CH and digital innovation, with complementary goals:
- REEVALUATE aims to provide a holistic solution to the challenges of CH digitisation management, that enables collaboration, boosts creative reuse and promotes democratic and inclusive prioritisation and contextualisation. After assessing the current pitfalls and opportunities of CH digitisation, the project will develop a modular framework that facilitates each stage of a digitised artefact’s life cycle (prioritisation, contextualisation, storage, collaboration and reuse) through a set of technological enablers, free versions of which will be made available by the consortium for integration to the ECCCH.
- DIGICHer aims to explore the legal, political, socioeconomic and technological factors driving the digitisation of CH for minority groups. The project will design a new and practical framework that promotes equity, inclusion and diversity in the representation of digital cultural content. The framework will be developed collaboratively with representatives from three minority groups: the Sámi, the Jewish people and the Ladin people. The process will incorporate user-focused techniques including design thinking and legal design.
- IMPULSE aims to revolutionise digitisation methods, and foster a more immersive, accessible, and interconnected experience for diverse audiences in the realms of education, arts, and cultural and creative sectors. By using Extended Reality (XR), it intends to engage underrepresented communities. IMPULSE integrates visual arts and dance performances through pilots and prototypes. Its collaborative approach includes a Community of Practice, a Hackathon, and an Acceleration & Mentoring Hub, connecting stakeholders for capacity building in immersive digitisation.
Establishing a Roadmap
During the meeting, the three projects agreed on an indicative series of actions to maintain momentum and foster long-term synergies.
An initial schedule was proposed for frequent catch-up sessions, ensuring continuous alignment and exchange of progress.
The partners of the three sister projects also discussed their shared commitment to coordinating dissemination and communication activities, including joint participation in conferences, webinars, and workshops, to maximize outreach and visibility.
Moving Forward
This meeting set the stage for dynamic and fruitful collaboration between REEVALUATE, DIGICHer, and IMPULSE, laying the foundations for innovative solutions in CH digitisation and reuse. As these projects continue to progress, joint efforts will provide a broader platform to engage with stakeholders, address common challenges, and enhance the impact of European CH digitisation initiatives.
Stay tuned for more updates as we move forward with our collaborative actions!
